Lead Generation Ads for Clinics: How We're Getting Leads Daily for a Wellness Clinic in Malaysia

The Client

A doctor was launching his own clinic for the first time, a completely new brand with no online presence.

Challenge

The client needed help getting customers for his clinic. The grand opening was only 3 weeks away.

Alongside the marketing push, the client had separately engaged another agency to build his website, expecting it ready in time for launch. As the date approached, that agency had nothing to show. When they finally delivered, close to launch, the site was broken, missing features, and nothing like what he'd asked for, leaving him with no functioning website on opening day.

Solution

The Grand Opening

For the grand opening, we ran Facebook, Instagram, and Threads ads on two tracks at once: targeting people within a reasonable vicinity of the clinic, and separately targeting their ideal customer profile, their highest-value and most loyal patient type.

We also built a Facebook event page and used push notifications timed to build urgency: one day before the opening, then on each of the two event days. As the launch date got closer, we increased spend, since events and grand openings consistently get their strongest signups and best show-up rates in the final days before the date. In the last stretch, we started showing ads only to people who'd already seen or interacted with an earlier ad, a technique called retargeting, because these were the people most likely to remember the brand and actually show up.

The grand opening drew a strong turnout across both days, but the promised website from the other agency never materialized in time. Once the client saw what the other agency had delivered, he asked us to build the website too and to keep the leads coming in the meantime.

Building a Website Around One Objective

Since this is a lead generation business, not a business where people buy on their own, we built the website entirely around one objective: get the visitor to reach out. Every page, whether it was a doctor's profile, a service description, or a blog post, was built to inform first, then guide the reader toward a WhatsApp message or a short contact form. We recommended WhatsApp as their primary channel, as people with health-related concerns want fast answers.

The site was also built mobile-first, given that most visitors browse on their phone, and it was structured for SEO and AEO from the start, so search engines and AI tools could actually read and reference it.

Getting Leads Before the Website Existed

The website took a month and a half to build, but the clinic was already open, so we didn't wait. In that gap, we ran ads with a direct call to action into WhatsApp, using the clinic's existing photos and video, plus new content we advised them to create. We split spend between cold audiences, people who'd never heard of the clinic, and warm audiences, people who'd already engaged with the brand before. This was a brand-new business, so the large majority of spend went to cold audiences in the first month to build awareness, and shifted gradually toward more retargeting as the months went on, though cold audiences stayed the majority throughout.

Two Principles Behind the Results

Marketing without feedback from sales is guesswork. Getting inquiries is not the same as getting qualified inquiries. A lead an hour's drive away, or one who can't afford the treatment, isn't a real lead. We checked in with the clinic every two to three days on lead quality specifically, and used that feedback to keep adjusting targeting and messaging.

Speed to lead matters more than most businesses realize. When someone messages a clinic from an ad, the ad platform knows they're an active, in-market lead, and keeps showing them competing clinics' ads right after. If a competitor replies faster, that lead is often already deep in a conversation with someone else by the time the original clinic responds. Once ads are working, the next lever is almost always how fast leads get a reply, which is exactly why we built WhatsApp into the center of both the ad strategy and the website.

How It All Came Together

Once the website launched, it started reinforcing the ads. Social media posts and every social profile pointed back to the site, people searching the clinic's name on Google found it, and it began surfacing in AI-generated answers too. Visitors arriving to "just get information" were consistently guided toward a WhatsApp message or a booking anyway through the site design and structure.

Outcome

The clinic got qualified leads from day one, every single day, even on a modest ad budget. Inquiries turned into first consultations, which turned into recurring weekly treatment plans, filling the booking calendar to the point where some new inquiries had to be scheduled days out.

Over a year later, the clinic is still getting leads every single day without a gap. Ad spend has increased since those early months as the results proved out, and the client regularly refers other business owners looking to grow through digital marketing.
